Goodbye…for now!
It’s with a bitter-sweet spirit that I key in this post this morning. Yesterday at 5 PM, Mrs. Doris King went home to be with the Lord. My mother-in-law had five children, Michael King, Roger King, Cathy Figeoroa and Michelle Lawrence. She had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The reason I say it was bitter is really stating the obvious. I loved her and will miss her, as will all the family. However, Mrs. King’s health and quality of life has been at a minimal for the last several months. The sometimes constant pain and uncomfortableness, coupled with the inability to speak or swallow made Mrs. King’s passing sweet in the fact that she now no longer faces those days or feels that pain. Interestingly enough, even on her last day here on earth, her personality and love showed forth, as the day she passed away was the birthday of her husband, Colon King, who went to be with the Lord 11 years ago. Imagine that! Happy Birthday, Mr. King! What a glad reunion day it must have been yesterday evening!
Please continue to pray for the family. Let me share another thought here. I was so impressed by the family last night. The funeral director wanted to meet with the family this morning around 10 AM, however the family said that it would have to be after church. Many families would not have even thought about church on a day like today, however, they understood that He still need to be worshipped today and that was a priority. I thought it fitting, however, Mrs. King would have wanted it that way. I love you Michael, Roger and Cathy.
Mrs. King will be at Arthur Bowick Funeral Home in Monroe, Ga. The tentative times and dates are as follows: Visitation on Monday is from 3-5 PM and from 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be at 2 PM there at the funeral home chapel.
In closing, thank you already for the many calls and offerings of help this week. We have a very caring and loving church and it is being expressed. Thank you.
I realize there are many emails and calls that have come my way these last couple of days, but if you will give me some time, I will follow up and respond. Again, your prayer is being answered. We serve a great God and we must realize that “God is good all the time, all the time, God is good.”
Goodbye, Mrs. King…for now!
