Sod Party

It’s been a long week already but seems it’s getting longer…although we have had great turnout the past two nights working till after dark, we need more help beginning in the cool of the morning this Saturday. A tractor trailer load of sod will await our arrival…if you can help, meet us at 6:30 am and bring a rake.

Many thanks in advance!

One Word Women Descriptions

I asked yesterday for men to give me their “one word” that would describe women. Here’s a few: virtuous, completer, complex, emotional, expensive, strong, difficult, ridiculous, needed, desperate, helpmate, nosy, wonderful, nagging, hopeless, (more than one word, but worth saying) “wish I had one”, okay, loud.

Okay, women, now it’s your turn. What one word would you say describes women? (by the way, none of the men’s words are the one I’m looking for) I would imagine the ladies might get it, so I probably won’t say if they get it right…ladies, you can email me with your word.

Following Him…As a Woman!

Ok, gentleMEN, since I mentioned on yesterday that I would be defining women with one word next Sunday in the start of our new series, the words have been coming in. Men, what word would you use? I’d like to hear it…and to make it easier on you, you can CONFIDENTIALLY email me with them. Thanks for you “research” in advance!

New May Series

We’re 8 days away from starting one of the most interesting series to date…”Following Him as a Woman”.

No, I don’t know what it means to be woman, but with enough research and reality, led by the Holy Spirit and the Bible, this promises to be an incredible month to assist our ladies in following the Lord closer than they’ve ever have before.

Please don’t miss a week, especially the first one on May 3rd. Don’t worry guys, we will be having a “man minute” every service!

Belated Thank You

Many gifts, cards, calls, emails and comments were made to my family during our last son’s birth, and we were/are very grateful. Many I haven’t been aware of as is the case here. Just this morning my wife was showing me a blanket Drake was lying on that Mary Edgerton’s mother had made for him. Michelle then showed me a poem that her 86 old father had written for us on the day Drake was born. I wanted you to be able to read it. I especially love the last stanza. Thanks to the Edgertons and Bryants as well as to everyone else who has been so kind to our family!

I am a happy preacher,

I am always on the go.

And today I’ve got some really good news

That I want you all to know.

The Good Lord answered our prayers today

And it filled our hearts with joy.

He delivered just what we “ordered”,

A bouncing baby boy!

So now he’ll join his siblings,

He’ll fit in well with the mix.

And until we agree on this little man’s name,

For now, he’ll be called “No. 6″!

Administrative Assistants Day

Today is nationally recognized as a day to honor/thank those persons who assist in offices around the nation.

I want to personally thank Carolyn Tomlinson and Lisa Jackson for their attitude, heart, work ethic and concern for our offices. They do a beautiful job taking care of so many things and I’m very grateful and appreciative of them.

I would also like to thank the many ladies who work in our school offices and those who volunteer in both. We all should realize that without these women, much would not be accomplished.

Again ladies. Thank you all for all you do! Happy Secretaries’ Day!

Couple’s Discipleship Class

Two weeks ago my wife and I started a couples’ discipleship class in our home that meets on Monday nights. We along with 5 other couples are praying that God will strengthen our marriages and put a hedge of protection around them.

Last night was our second meeting and we really had a great time opening up and sharing with each other some of the things that we desire as individuals and opposite sexes. We learned that God created “male and female” and their was a reason behind that design. We’re different by design and therefore we need to live with that in consideration.

The Scripture tells us “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” (1Pet 3:7 KJV) It’s part of our duty as a spouse to understand and gain knowledge about our husband/wife so as to know what they like/dislike. The things that our spouses used to need, may (and most of the time, do…) change over time. It’s therefore our job to get the “knowledge” necessary to be able to honour them the way we should.

We’re learning much and we covet your prayer over the next 5 weeks. By the way, you may be interested in being a part of the next group of couples. If so, talk with your spouse and decide together if ya’ll would like to invest an hour and a half or so of your time for 6 or 7 weeks in your marriage, and then email me about it. (pastorlawrence@me.com) I’ll put it to you this way, I think every couple so far is glad they are investing in their marriage this way.

All had a great time and fun talking smack. I want to thank Barry and Clint for pulling it together again.

Easter Sunday

I’m very excited about our Easter Services tomorrow. It looks like we’ll be having some very nice weather which is always good to have, especially on Easter Sunday. Please be praying for the services and everything involved…the worship in music, the parking lot duties, nursery and children’s ministries, and of course, the preaching and invitation time. Be specifically praying for the undeniable presence of the Holy Spirit and the conviction of those present. We are trusting God for people to be saved and many introduced to Christ. As a reminder, there will be a shuttle bus for all choir members, SS teachers, Deacons and staff to assist with the parking crunch. Also, all who are able and willing to attend the 9:30 service as opposed to the 11 AM, thank you. There will be opportunities to minister during that 11 AM service if you would like. Thank you and look forward to seeing all tomorrow.
