Congratulations to our missionaries, Chad and Linda Phillips, on the arrival of Judson James Phillips on Feb. 24th, 2009. Parents and baby are doing well and would like to thank all those who are praying for them.
I’m really looking forward to seeing them this summer.

What a great week I’ve had, albeit most of it was spent in meetings. I don’t attend very many conferences at all, but Bro. Chad Gordon and I attended a Pastor’s Conference for World Evangelism in Pigeon Forge this week hosted by some missionaries out of Vision Baptist Church in Alpharetta. We had a really good time and learned quite a bit that I hope to apply in my personal life as well as ministry life.
The food was great as was the accommodations. The fellowship was a bonus and I believe all were challenged. I’d like to thank Bro. Austin Gardner, Bro. Tony Howeth, Bro. Mark Coffey, Bro. Trent Cornwell and Bro. Philip Bassham personally for making the conference a success.
Then, just a few moments ago I returned from a Deacon Training Retreat we had for our Victory Baptist deacons and wives. We looked at the past year briefly and then planned out some things we want to incorporate and improve on in our Deacon Ministry. I appreciate Bro. Daniel and Bro. Jeremy and their wives for taking care of all the meals and accommodations as well. It was a great setting as we arrived at the cabin with a fire in the fireplace, te smell of breakfast cooking on the stove and a fresh pot of coffee just daring me to try a cup. I’m thankful we have a team of men and women who want to serve in our ministry the way they do.
Be looking for more leadership training and ministering in the days ahead by our team of Deacons.

Had a great time with my family this evening going out, messing around and eating. The Lord has blessed Michelle and I so abundantly…I love my family!
Here’s some pictures of Cole, Hunter, Malia, Marissa and Mariana. I didn’t put one of the one in momma’s belly, but we’ll see him Lord willing in about 5 weeks or less.

On Wednesdays I have been teaching a class entitled “The Spiritual Leader” to the staff. It is a two hour course based on the book written by Dr. Paul Chappell, pastor of Lancaster Baptist Church in California. It is one of the courses in our Training Center and I have enjoyed it very much.
Each week we cover three chapters and the men are tested weekly. Following their tests, we discuss each chapter and try to learn from each other. I appreciate Dr. Chappell spelling out so many things that can help young pastors in the ministry.
Not only have we learned much, we have also been challenged weekly in areas of our lives that need improvement. Pray for our staff that we will continue to learn and grow in the things of the Lord as we have the distinct privilege to serve here at Victory.

We are here in Braselton at the quiz meet. Three teams are here and unfortunately one team had to go to Newnan to compete. Pray that our kids will do their best and remember what they’ve studied.
I’ve pictured a couple of the rabid fans present below.

Things are continuing to move on the new auditorium and we are very excited…
- The back of the building should be completely bricked today (This is the biggest side of the building and will take the longest)
- Framing inspection is hopeful for today, in order to completely sheetrock. As of right now, they have started to one-side it.
- Electricians said today that all their conduit and boxes should be installed by the end of the day, ready to pull actual wire starting Monday.
- Sprinkler guys have most of the pipe in the ceiling with heads on them, still a little more work to do.
- Plumbers have all their rough in items completed.
- HVAC guys have also completed the necessary rough in items.
- We are trying to nail down an audio/visual company to assist us, so please be praying that we’ll choose the right one.
All in all, this has been a very pleasant experience for me personally. I believe God has blessed us with the right contractors and subcontractors for the job, and that has made this not too bad, fun even.

As many of you are aware we had to make an unexpected early trip to labor and delivery last week due to some symptoms my wife was having in her pregnancy. Everything has checked out well so far but there is still some questions in our minds about some things and she does have an appointment tomorrow (Tuesday), so please be in prayer for that matter.
On another note, we would like to thank the church (and school) for the immediate outpouring of love and concern. Before we even got out of the hospital that night, meals were already being planned by folks. This is such a testimony to VBC and their love for people and their Pastor. Honestly, we thank you so much for it, it really was a blessing to our family and we appreciated it greatly.
Along those same lines, my wife also wanted to thank the entire congregation for the many gifts given to her at the wedding shower last Saturday. She was overwhelmed with the generosity displayed. With only a few weeks from having our sixth child, she definitely feels more ready now knowing she has acquired so many of the things that we had gotten rid of after our last (we thought) child. You know, I was thinking, now that we have so much of the baby stuff we need, why use it on just one child??????
Thank You, Church…we love you so much and are honored to be a part of the greatest church in the whole world!

Several of our young people will be participating in an AWANA Bible Quiz Meet this Saturday morning I want to enlist your prayer for them as they represent the Lord and our church. Pray that they will be refreshed, that they will remember the things they’ve studied, and that they won’t become to rattled with the pressure. (The alliteration just happens…can’t help it:) )
I want to thank the parents of the clubbers for allowing them to participate, I want to thank the clubbers for working hard, and I want to thank Mrs. Sewell and Mrs. Combs for their coaching and training of the team. If you would like to come and watch the team, please feel free to call the church office for directions and times.

Praise the Lord for a good start for the month of February. I really can’t believe a month has passed in 2009, yet here we are full swing. I started a new series this month…”Following Him, When I Don’t Really Want To”. I have had several comments and conversations concerning the things preached about yesterday and want to praise the Lord for His blessings on us. We were supposed to have 5 people baptized yesterday but the baptismal heater is having problems. We hoped to get that fixed this week.
Our Annual Business Meeting was held last night as well and was a blessing to us all as we saw how God met our needs last year as well as increases in every service over 2007 numbers! We serve an amazing God…why wouldn’t we want to Follow Him this year like never before?
