What an exciting day at Victory in the services this morning. Good, full house and the Holy Spirit was working greatly. I have an appointment with a family this week that raised their hand unsure of salvation…be praying that they will get saved! Our teenagers in the VFL (Victory Footbal League) finished up play today and our Victory Orange Team won out with 21 seconds left to go on the clock. Bro. Chad Gordon and his youth staff did a phenominal job as usual. Bro. Josh Ayers directed the VFL this year and really kept it rolling and successful. As a result of this league, we had at least three teens get saved this season. That’s GREAT for a 5-week season. Good job teens!
Well, put your seatbelts on because Bro. Wayne Sosebee will preaching the PM service tonight. As you know, the last Sunday night of each month I have one of our staff guys preach and Bro. Wayne get’s the VBC “call to the bullpen”. Pray that God will bless the service again this evening.
Also, following the service tonight, we will have a Pastor’s Prayer Team Meeting and get our new Prayer Partners for the month of October. By the way, you can go to our web page www.victorybc.org and click the Pastor’s Prayer Team page and see the schedule as well. Thank you so much for your faithfulness and support of the PPT. I had a great Prayer Partner this month with Bro. Doug Hoffman…he was wonderfully faithful!
On a closing note, my wife and I had a great time at the game yesterday and we even got to witness a victory! I love you Michelle and I’m glad God saw fit to put us together these past 13 years!

Why in the world would I say that? Because that’s exactly the kind of things God does for His children. Before I get into all that, let me tell you how God blessed on Thursday night at our Building Men Leadership night. Bro. Austin Gardner from Vision Baptist Church again brought an incredible challenge to our men. I am so thankful for the men who were able to be there, and I know they were glad as well. We’re grateful for Bro. Jeff Bush who came down with Pastor Gardner as well as the staff there at Vision. I trust in the days ahead we will be serving in a greater capacity with VBC. Bro. Chad wiil be taking some teens up there today to be with Bro. Trent Cornwell and other teens for the GYF.
But let me tell you what God did for us yesterday. You see, I’m writing this blog on the back porch of a beautiful Bed & Breakfast overlooking a stream in Lula, Ga., about ready to head over to Stanford Stadium to watch the Bulldogs play and it all started at lunch yesterday. I mentioned to the staff that my wife and I are celebrating our Wedding Anniversary on Monday and would like to take her to an UGA game and if they knew how I could get tickets to let me know. Of course I wasn’t expecting for it to be today, however in about 15 minutes of the conversation Bro. Chad Gordon had me two tickets!!! Thanks to Karen Lucas my wife and I are loving it! I was able to farm out all my children, called my wife and told her to pack an overnight bag and we were gone…
So, here we are. I love you church, thanks for allowing me the privilege of being on staff at Victory Baptist Church for the past 13 years this Sunday. God truly does Unbelievable things for His children! Can’t wait to see you tomorrow!

Those were the three words we were challenged with last night from Bro. Austin Gardner, the pastor of Vision Baptist Church. I praise the Lord for the good number of people that were in attendance last night that were able to hear that message. Often times, we don’t really know who is being dealt with by the Lord to attempt great things for God. We all know God can…and we all know God COULD use us, but I think sometimes we get hung up on the fear or doubt of WOULD God use us in a special way. I have news for you…YES!!, most definitely yes! God has certain people that only you can reach…He has certain people that I can reach. Our problem is that we don’t know who those certain people are, therefore, we should be trying to reach them all and let Him direct us. If you were working in the nurseries or in AWANA, you can get one of the cd’s from the Sound Crew.
MEN…please do everything you can to be here tonight…we’ll have a great supper together and then we’ll hear some more training on how to be better servant leaders for the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s our desire tonight that we Build Men for the Master! Supper starts at 6 PM and the Challenge begins at 7 PM…just get here when you can, we’ll save a plate for you!
On a personal note today, several minutes ago, we just received word that hospice will be contacted for my wife’s (Michelle’s) mom. Please pray that God will administer everything the family needs during this time. Mrs. Doris King, as many of you may already know, is also the mother of Kathy Figeoura, Michael King, Roger King (both members of our church). Please pray for the family including the grandchildren as well. I’ll keep you posted on the matter. The good, no great news is the fact that Mrs. King is saved and we’ll be able to see her again on the other side! Praise be to His name!
I love you church, thanks for faithfulness and support…what an incredible church to be able to serve at!

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this week. Monday through Wednesday, this place will be crawling with hundreds of grandparents as we have our Annual Grandparents’ Tea. You won’t believe the chests that are about to burst with pride gathering around and supporting these children. It’s truly a delight to see grandmothers and grandaddy’s “sacrificing” to come up here and spend some time with their grandbabies.
But not only that, tomorrow night, Bro. Austin Gardner will be preaching for us and it’s going to be great! Bro. Gardner pastors a local congregation named Vision Baptist Church in Alpharetta, GA, yet his pastorate goes much further than that. He has been very instrumental in many churches and young people serving the Lord in all parts of the world, with an emphasis on Peru. You’ll not want to miss tomorrow night. He is also going to be speaking at our Men’s Leadership Meeing on Thursday night. I hope that every man at VBC will be in attendance to see what we might hear from God’s man.

That’s all I can say to sum up the food that we had at our New Member’s Luncheon today. The roast beef and all the sides were excellent, but not near as good as the testimonies we heard as the deacons and staff were introduced to our newest members. If you were unable to attend the luncheon today then you missed a blessing. It seemed strange that some of the people who ate with us were actually new members…many of them in the last 2 or three months have already jumped in the ministries at VBC. From teaching SS to playing in our orchestra, God has already used many of the talents that our newest members bring with them.
Honestly, we are amazed at the Goodness and the Graciousness of our God…He keeps sending us people left and right. I don’t know about you, but I believe He’s up to something BIG in Loganville!!! AND I WANT TO BE A PART OF IT!! Hopefully, you’ll want to get on board as well if you aren’t already, and join the “voyage of a lifetime” here on the USS Victory.
Thank you deacons/wives and staff/wives for doing such a great job with the luncheon. It’s a pleasure to work with a group so dedicated to pleasing God and each other!
Please continue to pray for Doris King and the family that God would grant grace and mercy in their lives.
Also, if this is the first “blog” you’ve read, scroll down to the bottom and find out what it is all about. You can also subscribe to it there.

This evening we witnessed an incredible evening of laughter and love as Scott and Ronda Ellis renewed their vows on their 25th Wedding Anniversary. The church was decorated beautifully and the meal was outstanding! It’s a pretty nice reception when all the guests are served chicken and steak and all the trimmings! Thank you so much Scott and Ronda, we hope you have 25 more wonderful years and a great time on your cruise!

The 2oth was Bro. Chad Gordon’s Birthday. Time won’t allow me to write what Bro. Chad means to this ministry. He and his wife are some of the most faithful servants at VBC. I hope you will get an opportunity to let Bro. Chad know how much you appreciate him and tell him Happy Birthday! I love you, Brother!

Two things I failed to mention in my earlier post. One, the Senior Adult class will be invading the Georgia Aquarium tomorrow. Pray that the Lord will keep them safe as well as give them a wonderful time:)
Secondly, we are having our New Member’s Luncheon this Sunday following the 11 AM service. Please plan on staying and eating with us. If you could let the office know that you are coming, that would be helpful.

Sounds crazy doesn’t it? A blog. You would think that in the “techie” generation we’re living and serving in, that they could come up with a better word, but it does roll off the tongue…blogging. Anyway, I hope to use this as a tool. Please pray with me that it will put another effective form of communication into practice. Much like our daily prayer line, I trust this will also be another link from the Pastor to you, the reader.
Commenting on the blogs is fine, but not neccesary…I don’t want you to feel obligated to comment every time you read a blog. Just read and enjoy! Since this is new to me as well, I’m asking you to also be forgiving in the event something doesn’t go the way I hope for it to. (which will happen, stick around and see!)
I had a great time preaching last night at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Covington, GA where David Moody is the pastor. What a great church with a great future! God is blessing down there in an incredible way and it’s exciting to see the hand of the Lord. Man alive, their choir is awesome as well! They sang a couple of songs that I got the music for…VBC choir, get ready, because we’ll be singing them REAL soon!
Well, I must prepare for the message tonight, Bro. J Hardee is coming by to do some filming for our one year anniversary of “A Call to Victory” Sunday this afternoon.
I love you church…it’s a privilege to serve with you here!
